Prof. Raju appointed Deputy Dean, Faculty of Humanities
Congratulations to Professor Jaya Raju, HOD, for being appointed Deputy Dean Staffing and Transformation, a substantive post, in the Humanities Faculty from 1 January 2024. As a result of this move, Dr Andiswa Mfengu took headship of the Department from 1 January 2024.
Prof. Raju's appointment to the role of Deputy Dean speaks to her leadership and commitment to transformation which has been evident in DKIS. In 2019 Dr Andiswa Mfengu was appointed on a T2 (three-year) contract funded by UCT’s Employment Equity Fund which was subsequently converted to permanent employment. More recently, in 2023, Prof. Raju led another transformative appointment in the Department, Theresa De Young. Both these appointments advance the transformation agenda of the University and in the LIS discipline.
We wish Prof. Raju well in her new role.
