Book lunch: The art of life in South Africa
Dear All,
We’re delighted to announce that Huma is re-launching its popular book lunch series. In the series, authors who’ve recently published books that fall within our research themes, “Circuits of consumption” and “Being Human”, are put in critical conversation with one or two interlocutors who are specialists in the field and who’ve read the book. The conversations are usually lively, informative and encourage audience participation.
We’re particularly pleased that this year’s first book lunch will be in collaboration with the Department of Historical Studies (UCT) and will be of Daniel Magaziner’s The Art of Life in South Africa (Ohio University/KZN Press 2016). Daniel (Department of History, Yale University) will be in conversation with Sean Field (Department of Historical Studies, UCT) and Khwezi Mkhize (Department of English Literature, UCT). Please see the attached flyer for more information on the book and biographies of the author and his interlocutors.
The book lunch will take place on 17 May 2017 in the Huma Seminar room. A light lunch will be available from 12:30 and the event is scheduled to start at 13:00.
We look forward to welcoming you to this event.
Warm wishes,
The Huma Team
