Admission Requirements

Students who obtain a final mark of 70% or more in an Honours programme in Psychology will be considered for admission to the degree.

Application Procedure

All applicants must complete the University Application Form, including a 5-7 page research proposal, and return it to the University administration by no later than 31 October.  The letter of motivation must indicate the name of a supervisor who has agreed to supervise you.

If examination results are not yet available when you apply, these will be secured by the University.

All candidates will be advised of the outcome of their applications in due course, typically by mid-December. Successful candidates are required to confirm their acceptance in writing within two weeks.

Programme Structure

1. Coursework component (PSY5031H and PSY5032H) - This counts for 25% of the final mark. Students are required to take the equivalent of two semester courses selected from a list to be provided. Each course contributes 12.5% to the final assessment for the degree.

2. Dissertation (PSY5019W) - This counts for 75% of the final mark. The dissertation should be based on original research work.

At least one of the courses offered will require field training in research methodology.
