RETAGS is currently in the rehearsal process to stage their second creative production under the direction of Mandla Mbothwe. Drawing from the Greek poem
Odyssey by Homer, as well as aspects of previously staged work, Mbothwe, with his creative team, explores the themes of revenge and restoration of the dead who seek peace. This production will embrace traditional styles of African storytelling, such as fragmented images and texts, rituals, chorus, poetry, song, physicality and mask work. Mbothwe has taken the COVID-19 restrictions in his creative stride by exploring digital platforms to both workshop and share the production with its audience in varying capacities. The multilingual and multidimensional work boasts an exciting creative team, namely: Thando Doni, Indalo Stofile, Babalwa Zimbini Makwetu, Lulamile Bhongo Nikani, Nomakrestu Xakathugaga, Sizwe Ginger Lubengu, Themba Stewart and Sanjin Muftic.
