The Second UCT Strings Competition aims to give UCT students the best possible practical and professional experience towards their future careers. The competition is open to all string players registered at the University of Cape Town as well as all incoming students and alumni who graduated in or after 2018.
The total prize amount in prize money is R80 000 and includes:
R30 000 to the overall winner,
R17 000 to each of the runners up,
R4000 to each semi-finalist,
The Jury awards an additional R8000 as special prizes, and there is also an award for the Best Performance of a South African work R8000.
The three finalists will perform a short recital programme consisting of 30 to 35 minutes of music at the Baxter Concert Hall on Tuesday 31 October, 7pm. Adjudicated by Prof Francois du Toit, Bernhard Gueller and Johanna Roos.
