PGDipLIS students acknowledged at annual prizegiving
The annual Department of Knowledge & Information Stewardship prizegiving ceremony took place on Tuesday 9 November 2021. Two departmental prizes were awarded, along with nine certificates of acknowledgement. Additionally, the Manel Trust awarded prizes to two students and UCT’s Careers Service, represented by Safia Lagerdien, presented certificates to students who had completed the Personal and Professional Development Programme (PPDP).
Prize winners were as follows:
Award for Best Academic Performance: Mandisa Ndlovu
Certificates of Excellence: Dana Jellin, Werner Oosthuizen, Catherine Poole, Siphamandla Tsabedze and Bongeka Xalisile
Award for Dedication and Perseverance: Elizabeth Mokoena
Certificates of Acknowledgement (Consistent Effort and Diligence): Esther Anne Carney, Nathiera Crombie, Zandile Mkhwanazi and Nyasha Satande
MaNel Trust Award for the Library Leadership essay: Sai Maharaj
MaNel Trust Award for space planning project: Octavia Kotzee
Like last year, prizegiving took place online which meant that some students and guests were unfortunately not able to attend due to load shedding. Nevertheless, there was a celebratory atmosphere as the achievements of the class of 2021 were acknowledged and the students looked forward to completing the academic year over the next few weeks.
