At an award ceremony in Caen, France, in May 2024 Associate Professor Debbie Kaminer and her co-authors received the award for best paper published in the European Journal of Psychotraumatology in 2023. The award was for an article titled "Effectiveness of abbreviated trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy for South African adolescents: A randomized controlled trial",  which reports findings of a study conducted by Associate Prof. Kaminer in collaboration with colleagues at Stellenbosch University and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
