Our entire way of life or civilization is built on the extraction or exploitation of the earth’s resources. And it’s not going so well anymore.
We have used nature against nature – forgetting that we are a part of this finite natural system. So, obviously, I’m concerned about where were heading. I’m worried about what the future holds for those I care about.
With this in mind, I’ve spent this year experimenting with materials I’ve scavenged or found by chance, unwanted or disposable – wood, copper, stone, lead, steel, and aluminium.
The process of finding, identifying, and selecting these materials is important, as is how they are processed or manipulated.
The resulting body of work has developed organically and intuitively through my interactions with, explorations of, and responses to these materials.
