The Love Letter commemorates the 10-year anniversary of Movie Snaps, the ground-breaking exhibition and documentary film on street photography and forced removals in Cape Town by Professor Siona O’Connell in 2015. By re-examining this history, we invite contemporary audiences to engage with the lasting and multiple consequences of displacement, while fostering dialogue about memory, justice and freedom in South Africa today.
The Love Letter is an exhibition event produced collaboratively by Professor Siona O’Connell (School of the Arts, University of Pretoria) and Jade Nair (Michaelis Galleries, UCT), with the support of the University of Pretoria, District Six Museum and the Centre for Curating the Archive.
