The 2025 Honours in Curatorship cohort, invites you to You end at the change, I will begin there. An Open Mic Speakeasy event, on Thursday, 22 May, 18:00 - 22:00, starting at the Old Medical Building, Hiddingh Campus.

The chosen format engages the informal space of the speakeasy/shebeen as a form of critical and political congregation that invokes both social and community engagement, as well as solidarity, catharsis and fun.

It foregrounds change and defiance, especially in the context of the university. It aims to engage with peers in an open, relaxed and enjoyable setting.

This event is presented as part of the Critical Thinking in Curatorship’s coursework. It is hosted by Centre for Curating the Archive with support from ––defunct context. We start in the Curatorship Workshop room 2131 in the Old Medical Building, and proceed to other venues at 18:00.
