When is UCT Open Day?

The UCT Open Day is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 4 May, 2024.

What is Open Day?

The Faculty of Humanities hosts an annual Open Day aimed at high school students in Grades 10, 11 and 12, their families, teachers and guidance counsellors. This event is ideal for school-going learners and their parents to explore the range of study options available through the Faculty of Humanities. Each year the event attracts more students, eager to find out about the University of Cape Town and what the various Faculties have to offer.

Open Day is popular because it gives high school learners the chance to find out about courses and programmes of study, to pose questions to our academic staff and current students and to explore the many career opportunities our academic programmes offer graduates

On the day, the Faculty of Humanities’ 18 academic departments showcase their respective programme offerings. Senior students and lecturers are on-hand to answer any questions that learners and their parents may have. The day features a wide range of activities which include:

  • a warm welcome from the Dean of Humanities
  • interactive displays by academic departments
  • an overview on curriculum structuring
  • information about financial assistance
  • exposure to some of the facilities on campus.

This event takes place on a Saturday morning during the second quarter of the year and should not be missed because it will help you make informed decisions about your study choices. Details of our Open Day will be distributed to schools by the UCT Admissions Office.

We look forward to meeting you at the next Open Day!
