Dr. Hangala Siachiwena Participates in Regional Conference on Poverty Reduction and Climate Resilience
From May 13 to 15, 2025, Dr. Hangala Siachiwena attended the regional conference on Poverty Reduction and Climate Resilience in Lusaka, Zambia. The event was hosted by the Chronic Poverty Advisory Network, with support from the British Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, as well as the Zambian Ministry of Community Development and Social Services.
The conference brought together researchers and policymakers from across the region, including Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, to engage in discussions on key development challenges. Sessions focused on a range of critical topics, including agriculture, climate change, energy, financial inclusion, political economy, and social protection.
Dr. Siachiwena played an active role in the programme, convening the panel on social protection and moderating a high-level plenary discussion featuring experts from the International Labour Organization, UNICEF, the University of Bremen, and the World Bank.
