IDCPPA & Afrobarometer Host Geospatial Information Systems Workshop
In July, the Institute of Democracy, Citizenship and Public Policy in Africa and Afrobarometer hosted an inaugural Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) workshop.
The workshop brought together early-career African researchers and members of the Afrobarometer network from seven countries, to be trained in GIS concepts, theory and analysis, as well as QGIS software.
Training was provided under the auspices of Dr. Simon Hull, a senior lecturer in the University of Cape Towns' geomatics department, and his team of facilitators.
The workshop was organised by Thomas Isbell and Dominique Dryding, with support from Shirley Whitmore from the IDCPPA.
Workshop evaluations by participants have been very positive.
Another GIS workshop is planned for 2024.
