Goodbye to our subject librarian Solvej Voster
The heart of a university is its library and on our satellite campus the Hiddingh Hall Library is at the core. At its nucleus and helm for the last decades, has been branch librarian Solvej Vorster.
At the end of April, after nearly 25 years of association with UCT and Hiddingh campus, Solvej has retired. A brilliant subject librarian, she supported students and academics in the fields of Drama, Fine Art, History of Art and the Humanities. She has built the collection at Hiddingh Hall and filled in many gaps. Some requests, particularly from Fine Art and Drama were unusual, eccentric and even bizarre. She took these in her stride, hardly raising an eyebrow.
Solvej intends to spend her retirement between Cape Town and the Pilanesberg and travelling in Southern Africa. The Centre for Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies and the Department of Fine Art wish her well and share a deep gratitude for all.
