Hiddingh Librarian Ingrid Thomson wins Top award
Ingrid Thomson, Branch Librarian of Hiddingh Library was announced as a joint winner of the 2023 LIASA-Sabinet Influential Library Leader Award at the Annual LIASA Conference held in mid October.
According to the UCT Executive Director of Libraries, Ujala Satgoor “The Influential Library Leader Award shines a spotlight on a remarkable librarian, recognising their achievements, exceptional contributions and exemplary leadership during their career in the Library and Information Science (LIS) field. This prestigious award, sponsored by Sabinet, pays tribute to librarians who are role models and champions of the LIS profession. They are also visionaries who not only inspire but also lay the foundation for a lasting legacy and their potential to shape the future of the profession, benefiting not just themselves but the entire community of LIS practitioners”.
Ingrid is a very experienced librarian who has spent time in the public, school and academic library sectors. Since 2018, Ingrid has been working with Wikipedia, driving the #1lib1refcampaign in South Africa and she has been working closely with AfLIA as a guest presenter on the Wikipedia in African Libraries course.
