The Michaelis 100: 100 years, 100 objects exhibition opened in September and aimed to present an unofficial history told through 100 objects, images and anecdotes, many contributed by past staff and present staff. The exhibition traced temporal loops, connecting staff research to earlier moments in the school’s history, linking historical events to periods of the school’s development, and tracing early student production to their later lives as artists. It was an exhibition of remnants: remnants of the studio, of works that remain at the school, of ideas and actions, and of the impact of history and the politics of the time. The exhibition marked the initiation of a formal Michaelis archive, and we welcome contributions from past staff and students.
