Biography
Melisa Zulu is a Masters candidate at the University of Cape Town. She holds an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of the Western Cape. Currently, she works as a Research Assistant at the Adolescent Accelerator Research Hub at the Centre for Social Science Research. Specifically she is working on the Khanyisa Ngemfundo Project, where she transcribes workshop audios from Xhosa to English. Previously, Melisa served as an intern for Aurelia Autism, where her role involved creating content for their social media platforms.
She also interned for the HIV Mental Health Research Unit under Project Sikunye, where she received training in using REDCap, participated in participant recruitment, and provided translations for their interview guide. Additionally, Melisa took on the role of interim sub-warden during recess, assisting in managing security-related crises, addressing maintenance queries, and promoting student well-being.
During her internship, she received the following certificates: Aurelia Learning: Autism in the HealthCare Environment, Aurelia Learning: Understanding Autism - A practical Approach for Parents, Pre and Post HIV Counselling Course, Advanced HIV and Adherence Counselling, Basic Counselling Skills.
