The presentation will discuss works-in-progress related to evaluating the impact of South Africa's child support grant on women's household decision-making power. This work utilizes longitudinal information from the National Income Dynamics Survey, a large population-based survey conducted throughout South Africa, and applies advanced epidemiologic methods such as mediation analyses and inverse probability of treatment weighting to disentangle relationships. The presentation will also share work exploring downstream impacts on children's educational and health outcomes. Additional future directions will be discussed.

Dr. Robin Richardson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University.
Dr. Richardson's work examines the social, contextual, and structural causes of poor mental health, intimate partner violence, and low empowerment. Her work is conducted in low-resource settings, including Southeast Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as among people experiencing social and economic disadvantage in high- resource settings.
