This year marks a special milestone as Nabowayah Kafaar (acting Administrative Officer in the department) celebrates 25 years of working at the University of Cape Town. Nabowayah's exceptional service and contribution to the university was recognised at the UCT Staff Awards held at the Baxter Theatre on Wednesday, 27 November 2024.
Nabowayah joined the university in 1998, and over the years, she has worked with many departments, primarily within the Faculty of Humanities: 'My journey has taken me through the Department of Religious Studies, the School of Languages and Literatures, and the History Access Project within the Department of Historical Studies, to name just a few.'
'Throughout this time, I’ve witnessed many changes across the university, but my commitment to maintaining high standards has remained constant. I am proud to have been part of UCT’s growth and development, and I look forward to many more years of contributing to this vibrant academic community.'
'It’s such an honour to be recognised for my long service. I am very grateful for the experiences and memories throughout my journey. I look forward to many more shared milestones in the years ahead. I’m so proud to be a part of UCT!”
