Gem Carosin is the Tierney Fellow for 2024/5
Congratulations to Gem Carosin who has been awarded the prestigious Tierney fellowship prize for 2024/5. The aim of the Fellowship is to identify aspiring photographers, create opportunities for photographers and assist them in overcoming the challenges that many face at the start of their careers. Recipients of the Tierney Fellowship are given financial support as well as conceptual and technical support through consultation with mentors, over a year, in pursuit of a body of photography work.
Gem Carosin is a photographer and videographer whose conceptual focus rests on queer storytelling and worldmaking. Gem visualises through the humorous and fantastical, the fictional Vampire as queer symbol. This character of gothic horror frames an exploration of queer shame and desire. Gem is in their second year of Master of Fine Arts.
