The UCT Code of Ethics Involving Human Subjects is the code by which all UCT affiliated researchers in the Humanities are bound.
Approval for Research Projects at UCT
As there are a wide range of disciplines and associated codes for ethical research practice in the Faculty of Humanities, the Research Ethics Committee places primary responsibility for ethical research conduct within Departments.
For any research involving human subjects, whether you are a staff member, a graduate student, or an external researcher affiliated with or linked to UCT in any way you will need to obtain clearance from the Ethics Committee of your department or research grouping.
A Humanities Ethics Guide has been developed by the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Humanities (Guide to Research Ethics: Research on Human Subjects) for use by all departments, research institutes or groups, or individual researchers within the Faculty.
