The Thelma Tyfield Prize

An annual prize for an essay on a literary topic has been established out of a bequest by the late Thelma Tyfield, who was well known as a teacher, anthologist, scholar, poet and critic. The prize may be awarded to an undergraduate student in the Department of English. The academic status of the entrant will be taken into account by the judges. Essays written as normal academic assignments are eligible for the prize, which however is not restricted to such essays. The closing date for submission of essays is the last day of lecturers in the second semester.

A call to submit essays for the Thelma Tyfield Prize is posted onto Vula closer to the time.
