Humanities welcomes new IT Manager
Gachago is the former director of the Southern African Legal Information Institute (SAFLII) at the Democratic Governance and Rights Unit - a research unit located within the Public Law Department at the University of Cape Town.
He brings a wealth of professional experience obtained within the ICT governance and service management space. He has worked in several countries including Botswana and the United Kingdom supporting enterprise ICT systems in sectors including healthcare, education and in the legal sphere where his passion for Intellectual Property Law as well as ICT policy and regulation eventually led him.
Gachago is a Chartered IT Professional (CITP British Computer Society), holds a Master’s degree in ICT Law from the University of Cape Town and a BSc. Information Technology (Distinction) degree from Edinburgh Napier University. Along with other industry certifications, he is also a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
Commenting on his new position, Gachago says that he is looking forward to enhancing technology services designed for staff and students in the faculty. ”I look forward to working with the Faculty in advancing the infrastructure for the digital humanities at UCT to rival the best universities in the world” says Gachago.
