Reflecting on 10 years in Special Collections, Clive Kirkwood

As Clive Kirkwood transitions into retirement the University of Cape Town Libraries shared his reflectional piece for Memory@UCT on the past ten years as archivist for Special Collections. Clive has provided generous assistance to the CCA and archival researchers over the years. The CCA is especially grateful to him for years of patience and sharing of knowledge as Special Collections has worked closely with the Honours in Curatorship course aiding students with access for working with museum collections.
Clive will continue to contribute to the Special Collections recovery process following the aftermath of the fire in 2021. "Despite the devastation and lasting effects of the Jagger Library fire at the University of Cape Town, on my retirement I have much appreciation for the opportunity I have had to work with fascinating archives in Special Collections and facilitate archival research in diverse disciplines."
