Recent Outreach by A/Prof Beatrice Conradie

Professor Beatrice Conradie, Director of the Sustainable Societies Unit, was invited to present her research at the Land Care Drought Relief Workshop, held at Prince Albert Show Grounds on the 28th of February, 2017.

Prof Conradie has also been involved in various outreach programmes about grazing conditions and water scarcity in the Karoo since November 2017. She has delivered policy briefings to the following associations:

1. The Management Committee of the Western Cape chapter of the National Wool Growers’ Association, about grazing conditions in the Karoo.
2. The Western Cape chairman (Cornie Swart) and CEO (Carl Oppermann), Agri Karoo’s CEO (Dean Gous), about the crisis in the Karoo.
3. Brief Alan Winde, MEC for Economic Opportunities in the Western Cape, on the drought and economic situation in the Central Karoo.
