Biography  

Dahlia Docrat is the Website Manager for the Centre for Social Science Research, a part-time contract role that combines her background in research and governance operations and digital design and web development. They are also an early-career researcher and a Masters of Public Health candidate in the Division of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Cape Town's School of Public Health. Her forthcoming Master's thesis explores sex workers' access to mental health care. Dahlia received a BSc (Honours) in Psychology, focusing on sex and gender psychology, and a minor BA in English Language and Literature from Queen's University in Canada. They are an advocate for global transformation in mental health and social policy, seeking to center people with lived experience in public health research and implementation. Through practical interdisciplinary experience in the NGO, governance, academic, and communication sectors, they have gained skills in communication, accessibility, and intersectional and cross-cultural sensitivity. Dahlia aims to enhance the design, web management, and accessibility in academic and governance spaces in order to increase knowledge dissemination and comprehension of evidence-based research and practices. They have made a commitment to improving sexual and reproductive health, reducing gender and racial inequity, and increasing quality mental health access. Dahlia has lived across the globe in the Middle East, Canada, Ireland, and South Africa.
