The Institute for Democracy, Citizenship and Public Policy in Africa (IDCPPA) and the Centre for Social Sciences Research at the University of Cape Town invites you to join us for a seminar on 14 February 2023. Nontokozo Langwenya will be presenting on the topic: "Quantifying the prevalence of sexual violence among adolescents – a critical step towards ending all forms of violence by 2030".
Nontokozo Langwenya (eSwatini) is a co-Investigator for the HEY BABY study and an early carer researcher of the UKRI GCRF Accelerating Achievement for Africa’s Adolescents Hub. She is also a doctoral student at the University of Oxford, Department of Social Policy and Intervention. Her research focuses on the epidemiology of sexual violence and Intimate Partner Violence among adolescents and young people, particularly adolescents living with HIV. This includes the health effects and risk factors of sexual violence, and interventions addressing sexual violence.
Together with a team from the University of Cape Town, Nontokozo conducts analyses to identifying interventions that accelerate the UN 2030 SDG achievement. She also collaborates with UNICEF on best evidence to support the lives of adolescents and young people in the Eastern and Southern African region by producing policy briefs based on best available evidence.
At this particular seminar, Nontokozo will be discussing her recent work on "Quantifying the prevalence of sexual violence among adolescents – a critical step towards ending all forms of violence by 2030".
