Mpofu places second in international competition

Noluvuyiso Mpofu obtained a Performers Diploma in Opera from UCT in 2013. While still an undergraduate student, she was on the Dean's Merit List for 3 years in succession and also secured the Ruth Ormond Prize for music. Soprano singer Noluvuyiso Mpofu has placed second in the 35th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition. She is the latest in a crop of UCT opera students and graduates who have excelled on the world’s stages. The Belvedere Singing Competition has been a springboard to international opera careers for UCT alumni. The 2016 competition final showcased 16 singers from nine countries. Four were South African singers.  Read the full UCT Daily News story...
