Biography
Vuyolwetu Tibini is a Masters’ student in Public Health specialising in Health Economics at the University of Cape Town. He has always been passionate about working with adolescents. He currently serves as a research assistant at the Adolescent Accelerators Research Hub at the Centre for Social Science Research providing support in the management of quantitative dataset on the research study HEY BABY (Helping Empower Youth Brought up in Adversity with their Babies and Young children). Their role includes retrieving collected multiple datasets from REDCAP software, performing data cleaning/sorting and running a statistical analysis using STATA. He also conducts literature reviews and other administrative research functions. He has worked with adolescent initiatives in Khayelitsha, facilitating adolescent policy mapping to deal with obesity in Makhaza, Khayelitsha for the CoCreate Project. Vuyolwetu’s dissertation is focused on the application of theories of economic evaluation to create a costing framework and effectiveness of cash plus intervention programmes on adolescent girls and young women reduction in risky sexual behaviour in the context of low-to-middle-income countries. Their research interests include interventions for adolescents living with HIV, behavioural economics in sustaining interventions for adolescent sexual and reproductive health rights, food security, equity, and socioeconomic determinants affecting health outcomes in vulnerable populations.
