Biography  

Juliet Stromin is a research assistant for the Safety and Violence Initiative at the Centre for Social Science Research. She is on the ParentText team, part of the Global Parenting Initiative.

She is currently a Master of Arts in Psychological Research candidate at the University of Cape Town. Her dissertation topic explores the relationship of emotional regulation and physiological health on perceived cognitive decline in those diagnosed with COVID-19 one-to-two years prior.

Juliet holds certifications in basic and focused HIV-based counselling and has recently completed an internship with the HIV Mental Health Research Unit, based at Groote Schuur hospital (GSH). There, she assisted with behaviour-based interventions to improve ARV adherence in persons living with HIV.

She has additionally worked as a volunteer at GSH's memory clinic, administering neuropsychological test batteries and interpreting results of those with suspected dementia. In addition, she has worked with children with different needs, facilitating their learning in a mainstream schooling environment.
