The Archive and Public Culture initiative is in the process of convening its second book publication support group for APC research fellows who have planned, or already have a book project in process.

Whereas a number of APC research fellows are established writers with one or more book- length publications to their names, others are planning or are in the process of executing their first book projects.

The support group is expected to offer these cohorts the opportunity to share their experiences, from beginning to completing a book, and searching for a publisher. We will discuss how to develop a professional book proposal, and will read one another's proposals critically.

We have invited a publisher and an academic experienced in book publication to take us through the first session. The group would be suitable for those who already have a manuscript or are in the process of developing one. However, since one of the objectives is to help upcoming writers to expand their knowledge of the process, those who do not yet have complete manuscripts are encouraged to come with an outline of their planned book project.

The meeting venue is the Jon Berndt Thought Space, Room A17, Arts Block. Meetings will take place once a month, with the first meeting happening on Wednesday, 17 October, 2012, and the second on Wednesday, 14 November, 2012. The dates for subsequent meetings will be announced later.

A light lunch will be served. Registration is open until 12 October, 2012.
