First 2015 Research Workshop scheduled for April
Archive & Public Culture will be holding its first 2015 Research Development Workshop from 7–9 April.
We look forward to welcoming our new cohort of History students, our Honorary Research Associates and our special guests, Professor Hakim Adi of the Black Cultural Archives in Britain, and Professor Garrie Dennie of St. Mary’s College, Maryland.
APC Research Workshops provide an opportunity to present papers for discussion in advance of further research development, peer review processes, possible publication or presentation at conferences, exhibitions etc. Work in progress is therefore welcomed. Discussion and feedback are the main focus, so papers are pre-circulated and taken as read in advance.
The workshop presents an ideal opportunity to work through draft papers in advance of our conference to be held later this year, on 16, 17 and 18 July, titled Izithunguthu: ‘Southern African Pasts before the Colonial Era, their Archives and Ongoing Present/Presence’.
For further details on how to prepare your workshop paper, please consult the workshop guidelines.
All questions related to these guidelines should be directed to apc-admin@uct.ac.za.
In the meantime, please diarise the following key dates:
• Friday, 20 March: Abstracts due
• Friday, 27 March: Papers due
• Tuesday, 31 March: Distribution of Reading Packs
