Dr Bam-Hutchison has worked as Research Manager of the APC over the past two years. In addition, she has worked as part of the Five Hundred Year Archive (FHYA) project, in which the project drew on her experience as a community partnership practitioner and scholar over many years both in South Africa and internationally.

As a senior scholar and inter-disciplinary higher education practitioner, Dr Bam-Hutchison will use a four month APC scholarship (March-June) to document and critically reflect on case studies of these research and knowledge projects she has engaged in over many years. She’ll reflect on and analyse these partnerships within the transformation framework in higher education in South Africa towards identifying key considerations  for the development of a framework of an equitable community research partnership model, which can be disseminated for further public dialogue about community partnership challenges in research development. In addition, she’ll use the scholarship to focus on what lessons can be drawn from the APC’s Five Hundred Year Archive in its attempt to work with other institutions as an analysis of how to get archival institutions to share materials.
