Duane Jethro publishes piece on heritage, ruins and waste on Discard Studies blog
Page from a Times Live article discussed in the blog post.
APC's post-doctoral fellow, Duane Jethro, recently published a piece on the USA-based international blog, Discard Studies, which focuses on social studies of waste, pollution and externalities.
The blog post is an extension of a seminar he delivered on the 19th of April, as a collaboration between UCT's Anthropology and Religious Studies Departments, on questions of heritage, ruins and waste. The article tracks the ways in which ideas of waste, ruin and pollution travel in public discourse in contemporary South Africa.
