Sandile Ngidi
Sandile Ngidi is an arts activist, and a Zulu/English literary translator. He has a BA Social Science degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and an MA in Creative Writing from Rhodes University.In the 90s Sandile was General Secretary of the Natal Cultural Congress, and later served on the first non-racial board of the Natal Performing Arts Council (now The Playhouse Company).In 2018 Sandile published a poetry chapbook, You Can’t Tell Me Anything Now (Mahlephula Press). His writing has appeared in The Johannesburg Review of Books, Konch, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Mail & Guardian, Umafrika and The Punch Magazine among others. Sandile previously edited Realtime, a South African human rights and democracy youth magazine, and Baobab, a journal for the arts and new writing.Together with Prof Innocentia Mhlambi, he is the editor of Mintirho ya vulavula: Arts, national identities and democracy in South Africa, published by Mistra in February 2021.
