Book Launch Programme
Barbara Boswell, Associate Professor and novelist, launches her second novel The Comrade’s Wife this week. Set in contemporary South Africa, the novel meditates on personal and political power, and how these intersect.
The Comrade’s Wife follows a turbulent marriage between a rising politician and an academic, told through her life and lens Pumla Dineo Gqola calls the book “Tender, delightful, frightening. A testimony to Boswell’s inexhaustible vision.” Nadia Davids describes it as “Wonderfully plotted, emotionally rich, clever and full of intrigue.” Rehana Rossouw says the book is “a wonderful account of the political made personal.”
