Rehana Odendaal

Rehana Thembeka Odendaal joined the APC as a Masters' student at UCT's Historical Studies in 2015. She received a distinction for her MA thesis "Wits Imagined: An investigation into Wits University's Public Roles and Respoinsiblities, 1922 -1994.", supervised by Prof. Carolyn Hamilton and Dr. Bodhi Kar.  In 2019, Rehana was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to begin her PhD in Education, Culture and Society at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education in the USA. At UPenn, Rehana is part of the African Youth Leadership Study research team, headed by Dr. Krystal Strong. Her current research interests focus on the role of new media and online learning in youth political and civic education. This interest draws strongly on her experiences for as co-ordinator for Stellenbosch University's JustLead! co-curriculum, online leadership development course run between 2018-2019 by the Centre for Student Leadership and Structures.
