Uthando Baduza
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Political Studies) from the University of the Western Cape, after which I worked at the District Six Museum in exhibitions. This led me to pursue a Post-Graduate Diploma in Heritage and Museum Studies (joint programme of the Universities of Cape Town and Western Cape with the Robben Island Museum).
I then joined the HSRC, firstly as a researcher in Arts and Culture, then as a commissioning editor at the HSRC Press. I then completed an MA in Public and Visual History (cum laude) at UWC, and am now pursuing a PhD in Arts Education at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
I have been a correspondent for The Archival Platform (www.archivalplatform.org), and a research fellow at the National Department of Higher Education and Training (Policy and Development Support) in Pretoria. Most recently, I was the FET Researcher managing the Vocational Education Programme at the Centre for Integrated Post-School Education and Training at NMMU. I have served on various regional, provincial and national bodies in the areas of arts, culture, heritage, publishing, vocational and higher education.
I am currently employed as the Chief Curator for the Red Location Art Gallery in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth.
