New Animated Video Empowers Educators to Support Pregnant and Parenting Learners Facing Violence

The Khanyisa Ngemfundo (Be the Light Through Education) research team is pleased to announce the release of an additional animated video in our transformative video series aimed at equipping educators with the tools and knowledge to support pregnant and mother adolescents effectively.
This initiative, grounded in extensive mixed-methods research with adolescent mothers, educators, government stakeholders, and program implementers, aligns closely with the Department of Basic Education’s Policy on Learner Pregnancy. It also draws from an evidence-based toolkit designed to address the unique challenges faced by pregnant learners and young mothers.
This new video focuses on how educators can respond to and support pregnant and mother learners who have experienced violence. This is a complex and difficult topic that we know cannot be fully captured and explored in a short, animated video but we hope to make a contribution, even if only a small one, to the important work on this issue.
We have also updated the toolkit to reflect what is found in the video.
