38 final year Occupational Therapy students from UCT conducted screening on 127 Grade 1 learners from Intshayelelo Primary School in Khayelitsha on Wednesday, 27 January 2016.
The purpose of Visual Motor Integration (VMI) screening is to identify learners who are presenting with perceptual and motor integration problems. The 4th Year students completing their Child Learning Development and Play Practice learning blocks at the school will see learners who require further assessment and intervention throughout the year. A second screening will follow at the end of 2016 to track the progress of the learners.
