The SII - Bookery Training

On the 20 January Patti Silbert facilitated a half-day Appreciative Inquiry session with The Bookery Library Assistants. In line with the Cascading Support Model (Silbert & Bitso 2015), the training session marked the beginning of the roll out of the support intervention previously offered in the SII cluster, and now being rolled out to the rest of the 24 Bookery’s Library Assistants. Through the teacher training technique of micro-teaching, Library Assistants are being trained to improve their teaching skills by developing creative methodologies, improving their communiction skills and increasing their confidence. Through micro-teaching they are taught competencies such as observation, critical reflection and constructive feedback, while at the same time developing information literacy.
