The SLL Research Ethics Committee (REC) is responsible for overseeing the ethical requirements of research conducted by students or staff in the department in order to ensure the protection of the rights, dignity and well-being of research participants. This involves reviewing ethics clearance and conversing with students or staff who need support with the ethical aspects of their research. The committee issues a certificate of ethical clearance to applicants who fulfil the requirements of ethical research as laid out in the UCT Guideline for Risk-Based Ethical Review of Research, involving human participants.

If you wish to submit an ethics clearance request, please fill out the form below and send it to elouise.petersen@uct.ac.za.
