Research interests: German Language Teaching and Learning, Interaction and Conversation Analysis, Multilingualism, Anti-Racist Pedagogy, Postcolonial Studies
Friederike Heinz studied African Studies, German as a Foreign Language (DaF) and Educational Sciences at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and at Technische Universität Berlin.
She has been teaching German as a Foreign Language in the academic context since 2005 in Uganda, Germany, Ghana and Benin.
From 2014 to 2019, she was DAAD Lecturer at the Université d’Abomey-Calavi (Benin Republic). At Pädagogische Hochschule Schwäbisch Gmünd (Germany), she undertook research and was a lecturer in the German and intercultural studies program from 2020-2024. Friederike Heinz also worked for three years at the Development Cooperation NGO Brot für die Welt in the Scholarships Unit in Berlin.
At UCT, she is also the contact person for all DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) related inquiries.
