Research Interests: Her research interests lie at the intersection of teaching pedagogy, translanguaging and decoloniality, exploring how language education can challenge traditional hierarchies and foster more inclusive, transformative learning environments.

Dr. Intisar Etbaigha is a specialist in Arabic and English language teaching and translation. After earning her undergraduate degree in English from Al-Tahadi University, she completed a Master’s in Translation Studies (Arabic-English/English-Arabic) from the Libyan Academy in 2006. In 2013, she moved to South Africa to pursue higher studies at the University of the Western Cape, where she obtained her PhD in 2018 in the field of additional language teaching and learning. Currently, she teaches Arabic in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the University of Cape Town and also instructs at the Deen Arts Foundation South Africa.
