New Appointment
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Olerato Mogomotsi to an Assistant Lectureship in the Department. Olerato is currently one of our PhD students, writing a thesis entitled On Being Authentically African: The Phenomenological Ontology of Personal Authenticity and African Belonging. He has not one but two Masters degrees. The most recent is from the University of Cambridge (2021) which included a dissertation entitled, The Robben Island Museum and its Contributions to Nation Building. Prior to that (in 2020) he obtained a distinction for his Masters degree at UCT. The dissertation for that degree is entitled, Analysing Authenticity: Explaining What it is to be True to Oneself and why this is Good. Olerato has had a long and happy association with the Department, having been one of our undergraduate and honours students, one of our team of tutors and recently a guest lecturer. There’s a sense of pride in seeing him move from student to colleague. We wish him every success in his new post, which he takes up on the 1st July.
