Dr. Thobile Mbata serves at the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa in Cape Town as a legislative language specialist. She oversees the editing of English Acts, English Bills, and second official languages as the Chief Editor at the Constitutional and Legal Services Office. Programming committee members of both Parliament Houses are advised by Dr. Mbata on the status of legislation that is currently before Parliament, legislation that has been referred to the President for assent, and legislation that has been sent to the Constitutional Court for safekeeping. She obtained her doctoral degree from the University of Cape Town on 22 July 2022 under the supervision of A/Prof Rethabile Possa.
