South Korean scholar YoungJun Yang as Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for African Studies
YoungJun presenting his preliminary research findings at a CAS seminar with scholars from Czech Republic, Stellenbosch and South Korea
YoungJun is a doctoral candidate in Social Anthropology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany. His doctoral project is on transnationality and identity politics in South Africa, South Korea and Germany through the lens of migrants - Serbian migrants in Germany, Zimbabwean migrants in South Africa and North Korean defectors in South Korea. His aim is mapping contemporary global dynamics between Africa, Asia and Europe through multi-sited ethnography.
