Dr June Bam-Hutchison and Tauriq Jenkins present on invitation from the Paulo Freire Institute (Brazil) at the UNESCO global events for Sustainable Education in May 2021
The theme of the dialogues, to mark the centenary of Paulo Freire, was on 'Education for Global Citizenship and Socio-environmental justice: A Freirean Framework for International Comparative Studies'. The invitation was extended by the Paulo Freire institute and global university partners in recognition of the work of the San and Khoi Unit in its knowledge and research partnership with the A/Xarra Restorative Justice Forum. The global dialogue includes the Paulo Freire Institute at UCLA, Universidade de Caxias do Sol (Brazil), and the Paulo Freire Centre (Austria). The dialogues are taken further by the San and Khoi Unit in a direct collaboration over the past year with Professor Danilo Streck (co-editor of the Paulo Freire Encyclopedia) for further research collaboration on the work of Paulo Freire which also has relevance to the PhD research of Tauriq Jenkins.
