Associate Professor Martin Botha to attend the 5th Critics' Awards for Arab Films
Associate Professor Martin Botha has again been invited to join an international jury of 142 film critics from 57 countries for the 5th Critics' Awards for Arab Films.The Critics' Awards for Arab Films is an initiative created by the Arab Cinema Centre (ACC), which includes the finest film critics from all over the world to select the best Arab films every year in the following categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Writer, Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Documentary.
A/Prof Botha participated in FIPRESCI (FƩdƩration Internationale de la Presse CinƩmatographique) juries at the Tallinn Black Nights International Film Festival, Tromso International Film Festival, Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival, Transilvania International Film Festival and Oberhausen International Short Film festival.
He is the only Southern African member of FIPRESCI and also served on many other international film juries including the Nepal International Film festival, Cape Town International Film Market and Festival, Durban International Film festival, BRICS Film Festival in Brazil, Sithengiās Cape Town World Cinema Festival and QueerLisboa in Portugal. During 2008 he served as a Juror in the Semi-Finals Judging in the category of TELENOVELLA AND ART PROGRAMMING for the 2008 International EmmyĀ® Awards.
