2018 Live Art Festival: Call for Proposals

The ICA once more invites proposals for artworks for the 2018 Live Art Festival which will be hosted in a range of spaces in Cape Town.
Live Art is a broad term that has come to encompass performance art, visual art installations, experimental theatre and avant garde dance. The Live Art Archive describes it as: “art work that broadly embraces ephemeral, time-based, visual and performing arts events that include a human presence and broaden, challenge or question traditional views of the arts”. While the pioneering Live Art Development Agency offers this definition: “Live Art should not be understood as a description of an art form but as a strategy to ‘include’ a diversity of practices and artists that might otherwise find themselves ‘excluded’ from all kinds of policy and provision and all kinds of curatorial contexts and critical debates”
This open call is for both established as well as emerging artists to submit proposals for the 2018 instalment of the Festival. Successful applications will receive technical and venue support, technical management and operation, and marketing and administrative support. In addition projects will receive monetary support to augment their budgets.
Interested applicants should submit a single PDF file containing the following:
- Name, email address, contact telephone numbers
- A concept document of no more than 1 page outlining the proposed creative art work to be presented at the 2018 Live Art Festival. Please include images and links where possible.
- Curriculum Vitae of applicant
- Budget, indicating clearly which part of the budget would need monetary support from the ICA.
Proposal submissions will be received from now up until 28 February 2018.
